CLC Live Chat #3 : Political Engagement
Translations available in: English (original) | French | Spanish | Italian | German | Portuguese | Swedish | Russian | Dutch | Arabic

Thank you to everyone who came out to the live chat on Political Engagement last night! It was an excellent discussion. I was excited and very happy to hear all of your comments and thoughts around youth engagement - how we engage youth, how we motivate them and how we can encourage politicians to do more to include youth.

One thing was very clear last night - measuring youth participation strictly by ballot participation will get us no where. We must come to understand that youth are especially keen on taking new routes - their own routes - to affecting change. Organizations like TakingITGlobal must continue to support them in that path and encourage them to explore both the traditional and the non tradition routes of political involvement....

Together we can!

As I mentioned in the chat, I would post both Andrew Brander and Christine Li's contact information so you can ask any further questions of them! Please utilize them. They are excllent resources with great passion and experioence in this field.

Christine Li - christine.r.li@gmail.com

With Excitement,

Kyle

See technology as investment, city advised...

The Ottawa Mayor's task for on e-government has made some very wise recommendations to the municipal government on how they can use to technology as an investment. It also pointed out some of the benefits to citizen engagement.

Hopefully more municipalities can take a progressive stance when it comes to modernizing the way they seek to accomplish tasks that might be more effective and efficient using technology. This is a great first step...lets see where it goes!

Leaving Ottawa
Translations available in: English (original) | French | Spanish | Italian | German | Portuguese | Swedish | Russian | Dutch | Arabic

So tomorrow, bight and early at 10:00 AM, I will board a bus destined for the Great White North - Timmins! This past year with TIG in Ottawa has been amazing! I've met some amazing people including some amazing coworkers who have but the noblest and most compassionate of goals.

My work as an Online Community Connector for the Creating Local Connections (CLC) Canada team has been a wonderful roller coaster ride. The challenges, the successes, the ideal; the hopes, aspirations and goals. We've run every race, jumped every hurdle and climbed every mountain - together!

I am humbled by my year here, excited that there is still a bit more to come and ever more atingled but the opportunities that will present themselves next year.

Kudos to team CLC! It's been a blast and I'm sure much much more to come!
